Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary

Today I went to Lone Pine, the place I was gonna volunteer at. That was like the main reason for both this Australia trip as well as the Borneo trip, but I've cancelled both volunteer programs. I miss my rats way to much to be able to stay until june. And I'm having such a great time just traveling that I really don't regret my decision. =)
Anyhow, Lone Pine is really really cute. Like all the other animal sanctuaries I've been to, it's pretty small and more like a park than a big zoo. I like that. I do wish the animals had bigger cages but oh well. I hope they don't think about the way I do. I would freak out having to live in that small of an enclosure, and see the same things every single day... That's why I always try to give my animals plenty of space and lots of things to do. So they don't get bored. It can drive me nuts, having my rats eat my wallpapers and chew on every cable in my room, but hey. As long as they're happy! :)

Kangaroo roos!! You could buy food and feed them but they didn't seem that interested so I skipped that part. I just watched them scratch themselves and hop around. There is something about animals scratching themselves, it's just so damn cute! I've seen all kinds os animals scratch themselves today and I just look at them and smile. So adorable. :)

This is what most sanctuaries look like

I got to hold a koala!! Or well, I had to pay 20 bucks to do it but it was worth it! I found a 10 dollar bill on the ground on my way to the kangaroo enclosure, so hey, what better way to spend that than to hold a koala!

This dude was soo cool. He was like a real life crocodile dundee. I was totally expecting to see dundees all over Australia, but no. Australians have an English accent, not at all like Dundee talks. This dude though, he had it. It made him soo cool :P

How amazing are these dogs. The way the work herding the sheep, it's just amazing.

A padmelon, or something. I can't remember the name of it but it was something like melon at the end. Cute though!

I cuddled up with a baby chick! It was so soft and so cute and I could have hold it all day long. But it just wanted to go back to its cage.

Little fluffy

Haha, bird feeding time! People were freaking out. It was chaos. The birds were so loud and so many and everyone was like aaaah! Haha! This girl choose to hold the feeding thing but she totally freaked out after a while and just threw it away. I just laughed at it all, it looked so funny. :)

Dingoes are beautiful!

My favs. The flying foxes!! The coolest creatures on earth. I have to write about my Sydney experience with them, it was just breathtaking. But I'll do that tomorrow.

What else did I do today. I looked at trips to Fraser Island as well as Lady Elliot Island. Seems like I might only be able to go on one of them, since they're kinda on the same date. Too bad, I would have loved to go on both. But oh well. I'll go on th Lady Elliot for sure, that's an island part of the great barrier reef. And that's something you just gonna have too see if you're in Australia! That poor reef is dying cause of global warming so I wanna see it now or it might be too late.

I've watched Beowulf for like the 7th time since I bought it. No, the 8th time. I've watched it 2 times today already. That movie is so good. So amazing, breathtaking scenery, great acting, spellbinding music, fantastic story... I love it. More than love it. I'm obssessed. I wanna live in that world. I wanna have mermaids and dragons and heroes. I don't know why... but it just fascinates me.
I googled the story of Beowulf today and reading about it just made me even more fascinated. Wow. Stunning. I'm so gonna read more stories like that when I'm back in Sweden.
For those of you who haven't seen the movie, do so! It's so worth it.

Man, just seeing this pic makes me wanna see the movie again, now. Although I just watched it like less than 20 minutes ago. I love Beowulf, he's so cool. And hot. And the way he looks at life is just awesome in a way. I AM BEOWULF! God damn, such a god damn good movie.

My wish list
dear mom, when i come home, can i have
a dozen flying foxes
two ferrets
three otters
one baby chick
two kangaroos
five little penguins
and
one big iguana
please!

No just kiddin. But yeah, I'm totally obsessed with these animals and I just wanna have all of them in my bed and snuggle them.

That's all for now. It's 1 am here and I should sleep. Over and out.
xoxo <3
